Origin & Background

Forsaken Lands is a "port" of a story world I created as a teenager. This world was inspired by my love of fantasy and medieval lore. I started a "novel" by making a plethora of notes upon a plethora of notes about this world, its galaxy, and its universe. I even went as far as to create concepts for games both within and about this world

Discovering alternate interests and a social life outside of fantasy, I spent less and less time developing this world and eventually left it behind.

I recently made the choice to pick up my dice and start playing D&D again. Picking up the current (Dec 2016) 5e Core Books, I gathered a group of my friends together and taking on the role of DM I started relearning a game I loved as a kid.

After running a couple of campaigns, I felt the desire to start playing in a world that was my own. I immediately thought back to the Forsaken Lands notes I made as a kid. Now at almost 40 years old, I was re-immersing myself in a world that I created over 25 years ago.
Having created this world with the idea of writing stories about it, and not as a D&D world, I have found that some aspects of both the world and the rules which govern it have had to be changed in order to fit within the standards of D&D. In this same spirit, I have also had to create some homebrew rules to allow some of the more distinctive aspects of the world to stay true to their original flavor. Also, There has been a necessity to include things from the D&D universe which were not originally in mine so as to accommodate any desires of players, as well as make the porting of creatures and characters less cumbersome and more speedily accomplished.

Now with all these things merging, a new Forsaken Lands is forming. One that is better than the old one, not only because it is alive again, but because as an adult I am more capable of fleshing out the details and making them work in a more harmonious way. As I continue to do so, I will try and upload materials here for those that are interested.

Thanks for visiting and thank you for letting me share my world with you.
