Tyranny Of Dragons:
Vola's Campsite Companions
Draoc
I would like now to tell you of my friend Draoc.
Draoc is a 480 year old, Wood-Elf Druid with an awesome grasp of not only his own abilities, but also a keen insight into the abilities of most of the others in our group. He often assists us in accomplishing tasks and feats of which we never knew we were capable.
Although Draoc’s tale gives us insight to his depth of character and knowledge, it also tells of a sad turn of events which have forced him to the path he now travels.
He was happily living in the forest of Tethir located along the Trade Way, south of the Small Teeth Mountains. His homeland was under the reign of Queen Ellesime - the elven queen of Suldanessellar. It was she who assigned him to the safe keeping of the Staff of the Woodlands. This Quarterstaff has magical properties both in battle and when at peace. In battle, it grants extra damage in both melee and spell attacks. In peace, it can be planted by one end in fertile earth and transformed into a healthy tree – a tree large enough for a Wood-Elf to live within its branches. And within those branches Draoc lived.
One day while performing his daily errands, Draoc returned “home” to find the tree gone. Someone knowledgeable to the powers and properties this “tree” reverted it back to a staff and carried it off – for what purpose, we do not know. But Draoc, and those of us who know his story, cannot imagine the motivation for this theft was for the cause of good.
Draoc hunts the cult we follow believing they are responsible for this larceny. That they either paid for the robbery itself or have at the very least, benefited from it by purchasing the staff. His search will not end until the staff has been recovered and re-rooted in the rich soil of his homelands – or until he himself has been planted there having died in pursuit of his quest.
