Tyranny Of Dragons:
Vola's Campsite Companions
Atheos Goldfyre
For my last campfire chat, I would like to cover the life of one of the funniest, but bravest Dragonborns I have ever met - my friend Atheos.
He is a somewhat private fellow, slow to take praise and slow to denounce others. He has been the subject of rebuke from some of his own clan, but has never the less always struck me as honorable and non-condemning in return. Some who have suffered this type of neglect and abuse often turn out bitter and criticizing. But not Atheos. Through our battles and our brief history together, I can attest to his long-suffering and his bravery on all fronts.
He left home in an attempt to find solace with another sector of his clan as his cousin was also a platinum Dragonborn. However, he was not accepted there either. Feeling cast out and rejected, he set out on his own using his skills as a master blacksmith to pay his way.
Upon hearing of the plight in Greenest, he journeyed to find out if there was anyway he could be of service to those being trodden over. That is how he came to fall into our little group.
As said earlier, he has an excellent sense of humor - though somewhat irreverent at times. He is always ready to join me in seeing the joy of victory and the uselessness of despair.
And he always has the backs of his companions in our little army, even when it calls for putting his own life on the line. His mantra is basically my own - that it's "ok if not all of us survive, as long as the mission to vanquish this enemy, and to protect and defend the weaker, is a success."
I have found him to be a true brother in arms, and also a brother in spirit.
Should I find out anything more to give you a glimpse into this soldier's heart and mind, I will update this post accordingly.
